IZE: Mission
We are dedicated to expanding the educational impact of zoos and aquariums worldwide. The International Zoo Educators Association (IZE) is dedicated to improve the education programs in the facilities of its members, to provide access to the latest thinking, techniques and information in conservation education and to support excellence in animal care and welfare.
History
The idea behind IZE was to create a forum where professional zoo educators could meet every second year to share ideas and discuss topics of common interest. The 22nd biennial conference took place in 2014 at Ocean Park, Hong Kong. A total of 161 delegates, representing 34 countries, attended the conference. The theme was "Education Success - what does it look like and how do you measure it?".

The slogan "Crafting effective narratives" aspires to collaborate with the enrichment of educational interventions to promote attitudes, behaviors and knowledge compromised with environmental care and conservation. Interventions that are based on "hot stories" rather than cold facts so that they capture us, speak for us and captivate us. The power of these stories will inspire us to become "multipliers", giving them a whole new meaning based on our experience, empowering others through the process.
